Dolores Ordway Artist Statement

In the words of the artist:

"The natural world is what calls me and the love of local landscape and flora is seen in all of my work.

From the icy majesty of my Landscape Series, the detailed textures and rhythmic forms of old growth trees to the sensitive watercolour Floral Series; I express by deep connection to the natural world.

The vibrant colours, moods and mists of the coast infuse my paintings -- is what excites and motivates me to both produce and share my art."

I strive to capture the atmosphere and beauty of the local coastal environment.  I work realistically but with an artist's eye.  The solitude, the oneness, the vibrancy of colour, and the various mediums of art which is available to today's artists, basically everything in or about art holds my passion.  I still continue to study and learn, it's an ongoing process.
